Remembrance by Escente Remembrance by Escente
Once in a blue moon I get hijacked by an image that forces me to set it down on paper.
I guess this is one of them.

A few days ago my family and I went to burn paper money for our ancestors. Sometimes it's humbling to think about the endless chain of life each of us are descended from.

The shading and the color scheme are simply beautiful. The orange stands out nicely against the various shades of gray.

This is a beautiful piece! The orange fire really stands out against the whites and greys. All the paper flying!
P.S. I don't want to sound rude, but what is the symbolism behind burning paper money?
Rats, I still sound rude...

Thanks! don't worry there's nothing sensitive about that hahas
Every year, on the 5th of April and the middle of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, we burn paper money for the spirit of our ancestors so that they will be rich in their afterlife.
People in the past burned paper shaped like copper coins or silver pieces. Nowadays we burn (fake) bank notes, credit cards and sometimes even limousines lol
